The now De Vere Herons' Reach hotel was built in the early 1990s adjacent to Stanley Park in Blackpool. Stanley Park itself was created by a visionary Mayor of Blackpool in the 1920s, who wanted to create and preserve green space in the town and ensure it was easily accessible to all residents.
The grounds were designed to include a large lake and a golf course - designed by Colt and Mackenzie who built over 300 courses around the world.
The leisure space and facilities around the Grade II listed Park have been extended and developed over recent years.

This par 72 Championship course, opened in 1994, is maturing into a challenge for golfers of all abilities.
Despite being set in a 200 acre parkland and lake estate, the course has a links feel to it, being just 10 minutes from the coast. The fairways are well maintained, but expect to be punished if you land in the rough, and the wind off the sea may cost you a few shots. Lakes guard a few greens, but hold your nerve; good approach shots are well rewarded.
Professional Tip:
For the reserved: On the 17th Hole, preserve your score down the stretch, by laying up to the water hazard to leave yourself with a short iron onto the green.
For the fearless: Go for gold on the 2nd hole. Drive straight for the green and get your round off to a flying start on this short par 4. If you need extra fire power, wait for the wind that blows from the coast.
