Leeds
Thriving and cosmopolitan. A haven for diners, drinkers, shoppers and culture vultures. Home to many businesses and attractions and growing at tremendous speed, the city's size will not overwhelm, nor its hype disappoint.
At the weekend, people come from all over the country to go out and get down at Leeds' best clubs. Majestyk is the biggest and most popular. It's great if you're with a big crowd. Nights change all the time, but here are some pretty sure fire Saturday night hits: Speed Queen at the Warehouse on Saturday is a speed garage night with a kitsch twist; The Orbit at After Dark in Morley is one of the best industrial techno nights in the country—hardcore and banging if that's your thing; Basics at Mint is a renowned house night in a stylish venue; and you can be sure that whatever is on at The Wardrobe; The Underground; or The Atrium will keep you grooving all night long.
York
A beautiful and compelling city set on the Rivers Ouse and Foss whose history, George VI said, is "the history of England". York boasts a labyrinth of streets steeped in ancient charm and modern charisma and its minster is among the world's finest.
The city is also host to several annual beer festivals, which as well as showcasing the nation's lesser known breweries, often gives beer drinkers a chance to sample international ales. The most popular pubs in York are found along the famous student pub-crawl known as the Micklegate Run, which runs down the middle of the city center; local favorites like The Windmill and The Punch Bowl are joined by popular chain pubs like The Phalanx & Firkin.
Although many have attempted to drink a pint in every pub on "The Run," few have succeeded. In fact as the chain has grown over the years, most tend to skip a couple along the way. Having run the gauntlet of Micklegate, some people may manage to venture in to one of York's nightclubs while others may find they've built up a hearty appetite.

Grattan Stadium (Leeds)
Grattan Stadium, previously known as Odsal Stadium, is where the Bradford Bulls reside. It also held the world record for highest attendance at a Rugby match when it was host to 102,569 sports fans during the 1954 Rugby League Challenge Cup. Though this record was broken in 1999 with the opening of Sydney's Stadium Australia, Grattan's longstanding fame for its immense size cannot be overturned. The arena is also utilized for basketball, speedway and stock car racing.
Ziggy's Nightclub
This is a rather small nightclub at the tail end of a variety of drinking holes which are better known as the "Micklegate Run." It is popular amongst both those who love 70s nostalgia as well as those who actually remember the 70s. Ziggy's is unique in that it offers an alternative to the other clubs in York, which tend to concentrate only on chart and dance music. There are regular theme nights, students are welcome, and drinks promotions are plentiful. It may not be the best nightclub in York, but everyone who goes there always seems to have a good time.
Flares (York)
This is a city-center pub that is very popular with nearby office workers by day and young twenty-something clubbers by night. It has a great layout and plenty of room for anyone who wants to "do lunch". Because it has loads of tables, getting a seat is never difficult. The décor is a mixture of modern and old, and the assorted brick-a-brack on the walls just adds to the comfortable atmosphere of the pub: there's even a satellite TV available for sports fans. It can get a little noisy at times and isn't the place for a romantic evening—but if you're young and trendy, then this place will appeal to you. The service does tend to be slow, especially at peak times. The only downside is that the beer isn't the best in York and can be expensive.
