Following significant investments of the golf facility, Oulton Hall plays host to the North's leading golf academy. As well as custom fitting, the Academy uses the latest technology to significantly improve your game.
Oulton Hall was originally owned by the Blayds family in the mid 18th century and was built up into a substantial estate. The house was then left to John Caverley who made two significant additions to the estate. Firstly he had the pland around the house landscaped. Within the house he commissioned the architect Sir Robert Smirke to design a library and drawing room. His other lasting legacy was the provision left in his will for a church to be built at the bottom of the drive, which is still in use today.
After a major fire in 1850 the Hall was remodelled and the Great Hall and Minstrel's Gallery was built, but the Hall's fortunes then went into decline.
In 1991 De Vere Hotels acquired the lease and rescued the Hall. £20 million has been spent on restoration and expansion and the Hall has been transformed into a truely luxurious hotel.
THE HALL GOLF COURSE
The par 71 Park Course overlooks a beautiful hill and dale landscape. A pleasure to play, with groomed fairways and subtle, undulating greens.
Seemingly benignly beautiful, the Park is a course that will nevertheless test your game, with a sound strategy required to finish first.
The Park is one of those great courses that is not necessarily as benign as it first appears. Bunkers are strategically placed on many fairways, so planning and shot placement are of paramount importance. The course is in magnificent shape and a good test for all abilities..
THE CALVERLEY GOLF COURSE
On the north east side of the estate, The Hall is a picturesque, par 36, 9-hole course. The Hall 9 are sometimes played with 9 from The Park, to make a different 18 hole challenge.
On it's own, or in conjunction with The Park, The Hall makes for a beautiful game - the perfect way to spend a day.
The extra 9 holes added by the Hall course make Oulton Hall into a premier golf resort. As challenging and well maintained as The Park, the Hall course adds variety and offers a different challenge if you are planning to play more than 18 holes on your stay. Pars are well earned here and worth toasting in the new clubhouse after your round
Professional Tip:
For the reserved: Playing the 12th as a three-hitter is the best option for survival. The tee shot is fraught with danager and a driver or 3 wood are essential if you are to be in a heavenly position for laying up.
For the fearless: The 15th known as 'Dingley Dell' measures 315 yards with a dogleg you can cross to be on the tree-lined green in one. To the brave a birdie or even an eagle awaits, miss it and prepare to rack up a high score.

The Champagne Bar

The Champagne Bar in partnership with Perrier Jouet offers a fine selection of fizz with over 50 champagnes from some of the most famous houses the region has to offer from Perrier Jouet Grand Brut to Krug Clos d’Ambonnay 1995, one of only seven bottles in the UK.
Their Bar Tenders are on hand to recommend one of their 55 classic cocktails or your favourite tipple from their wide selection of vodka, gin’s and 27 rums from around the Caribbean, as well as a wine list offering some fantastic examples of great wine producers.

Distance: 4.4 miles
The museum in Leeds is a multi-million pound purpose built building. It houses a large part of the national collection of arms and armour, and displays over 8500 objects throughout its five themed galleries.
York Race Course
Distance: 20.2 miles
York is one of the Premier tracks in Europe having recently won Flat Racecourse of the Year Award and also came out top in The Times newspaper survey of all Britain's racecourses.
Pontefract Racecourse
Distance: 6.6 miles
Pontefract Racecourse is the longest continuous circuit in Europe at 2m and 125yds. It stages flat racing between the end of March and the end of October.
Harvey Nichols
Distance: 5 miles
Harvey Nichols' first store outside London opened in the historic Victoria Quarter of Leeds in 1996. The store, with five floors has become a landmark destination in the city centre.
